Empty Apologies

About the song: Taken from 2007’s “The Chronicles of Mimi” and one of a string of #1 hits from the album. Mohammed wrote this song after struggling for so long to keep a relationship going that was slowly becoming one sided. “It’s about knowing when to let go and move on, before the negativity of that relationship brings you down too”, the singer states..

An album that was well put together flowing from one story to another. When he said this was one of many chapters in his life (referring to the album – The Chronicles of Mimi) he wasn’t kidding. This album reads like a book. This song fits extremely well into that book and although musically well created; lyrically he has hit the nail on the head. An excellent and well written song.

“Empty Apologies” hit #1 Internationally
The album from which it came “The Chronicles of Mimi” sold in excess of 170,000 copies world wide.
“Empty Apologies” the single itself was downloaded over 23,000 times in less than 3 months from its release date according to Soundscan and iTunes.

My friend Syed Kamran is a Muslim here and I love his company, and always make it a point to visit my Muslim brothers homes during Ramadan and I have more Muslim friends than all of you and you guys living there, talking about the integrity of my Country??? Guys get a life,’cause you are sparking off a row here by quoting all this as racist. Please, don’t get me wrong here, what ever I wrote here is all in a good sense.

Meghraj,
First of all dude, you can’t sit there going off at everybody and blaming them for thinking what they thought. I think the statements you made were pretty explosive, hence, the reason for the ROW.
Secondly, you are passing judgement on other people when they have only justly responded to your statements. Fair enough, there is no delete button. But maybe you should think about what you type before you type it.
Just out of curiosity … what is it you meant by that statement?
I’m sorry, but whatever statement you make, you are speaking on behalf of your country as well, whether you like it or not. It all comes with the territory.

Thanks a lot for coming in Ormond. You see, 1st off I was typing in a hurry and mistook Salem’s name for Aslam.2nd off, I apologized. And here, people start off by calling me a racist pig and naming it as anti-muslim slur. I guess, even they should think before what they say. I never meant to offend any one by writing all of this in any of my earlier comments. Hope you understand!!
Cheers!

Meghraj it’s ok, I think after all the misunderstanding I realise what you were trying to say. But in all fairness, I guess I can kind of understand with the way it was written, how it could have been mis-understood.
Don’t worry everyone, let’s forget the bad taste in our mouth that we all experienced and let’s just continue to enjoy the music.

What’s going on is that you started your comment claiming he is a “bad singer” and now you have started a tug of war between fans of Mohammed Salem and your own supporters who hare now showing prejudice because his name is Mohammed. Since when is prejudice invited into music?
Is that what India is about? Because that is what it’s looking like to me.

cool down guys! well its so sad to see all this going on..i heard the song and mr kamran’s comment is not surprising to me ..he just expressed his honest opinion which is rather difficult to find these days and as far as i know critics are more important than ego feeding people for an artist’s growth.
what surprised me is the way mr. salem has reacted to the comment..mr salem if you are such a dignified artist then we expected some dignity and humbleness from you and you should have taken the comment in a better way..i really wonder if you have such a great success and fan base behind you what made you react that way..you should have instead answered by your work.
and whatz this racial thing???
i am a Muslim myself and a proud Indian and i belong to a country where more Muslims live than anywhere else in this world..and we are proud of our multireligion, multiculture society and rocksolid democracy which has been ensured tilldate by the majority here which is of course not Muslim..what an issue has been made out of a simple spelling mistake just because the guy was belonging to the another religion here..and you all talk about prejudice!!
brothers let the music remain music…a thing to heal the world and dont make ego issues eat away its beauty..
amen

Imran, dude you have clearly missed the boat.
Have a look at the comment made above. The comment was cleary aimed at Mohammed Salem’s name and saying that it was all wrong. In what other context can such a comment be taken?
Secondly, I don’t think Mohammed has reacted badly at all to Kamran’s comments. Kamran is the one who acted unprofessionally. If you want to make constructive criticism, there are ways to do it.
Some calls you a bad singer with nothing to back it up, how would you take it?
I think you all need to grow up and either give constructive criticism, or keep it to yourself.
He clearly doesn’t need comments like that posted on his music.

What’s wrong with the name? It is a beautiful name and the most popular in the world.
