Do something remarkably new
We’re not going to do it. We wont write about the influence of the great Michael Jackson on music over the years and mourn over his death. His is a passing away that is as much to be celebrated as grieved. The legacy he left is enough for anyone to dwell over for a lifetime. So we’ll just save it. Put on Smooth Criminal and write whatever comes on to our mind while the song lasts…
We think if we were to take a leaf out of his immensely big notebook, we would take out the ‘no fear innovation’ attitude of this guy. Back in the early 80’s when everybody was gung ho about booming record sales, this guy had other plans. Plans some considered stupid and insane (amazing how stupid and insane things turn out right sometimes). He wanted to make an 14 min music video and wanted to make it very good. Half a million dollars worth good. Did i mention this was early 80’s and much before they’d even heard of MTV?. A handsome sum of money for something never tried before and the result was arguably his biggest gift to the music world, his oh so awesome music videos.
So to cut the story short, if you’re doing music, don’t do it well, do it great. Not just the music, everything related to it. Do it with extreme zeal and passion, do it without fear, do something so remarkably new and original that it makes the viewer/listener fall on his butt. Do it the MJ way…
(the songs over, Rahuls still trying his moonwalk.. he sucks)
