Ryan and Kalyan along with Keng fronting the band started their journey as SUICYDE PACT but later changed their genre along with their band name STIGMATA. After a couple of years they disbanded due to certain unavoidable differences among the band members.
On the other hand Ryan started looking for new band members in order to form a new band.
A few days later Ryan met Ronnie at a pub in Bangalore and both together started looking for new members after coming back to Guwahati. After a few months Ryan met Hayung during some entrance examination and asked him to join the band. Later Kalyan also joined Ryan, Ronnie and Hayung. Then came the toughest part in forming the band, the search for a frontman, for which many auditions ended up with no results.
One day Ronnie called Ryan and told him about a guy named Amit. We called Amit and had a kind of jam with him. Amit impressed all with his hard hitting vocals.
Finally on 10th of May 2007, the band was formed with the name VINE DEAD STRAW {VDS}.
On their one of the first competitions, VDS was disqualified due to use of violent acts and abusive language {according to the organizers}, which prevented the band from getting the top position inspite of receiving the highest number of votes from the audience.
After the metalheads in Guwahati started recognizing VDS Hayung and Amit had to quit the band in order to continue their further studies outside Guwahati. But whenever VDS is on stage we feel one of our parts missing but that’s how life goes on…..we have to keep moving……
Soon, Keng, who was with Ryan and Kalyan when they first began, joined VDS but before joining VDS Keng was fronting a band named SWEET ASHLEY along with Richmond of PROJECT BLEND LIMITED {PBL}.
Then came the time when VDS got their chance to hit its big time. Along with Keng, VDS composed some more of their originals and are working on their EP, which VDS is planning to release on the band’s 1st anniversary. But that isn’t all… along with the EP, VDS is looking for more and more gigs all over the country……
