About
Chatting over a few shots of tequila, longtime friends and bandmates Adit Rao (Vocals/guitar) and Johnny Vergara (Bass) decided to start a new band in mid?2005. They were tired of the standard "LA" sound and imagined a project that referenced great songwriting bands such as The Beatles, Radiohead, U2, and Oasis while adding a modern twist. So they started listening, and writing. Soon they were joined by drummer Joakim Ekberg, and began sorting through demos which Rao had made over the previous few months.
After a few weeks of recording, the trio released the Knocking on Doors EP in 2006, which launched them onto the LA scene and garnered some attention on college radio. Joined on guitar/keyboard by longtime friend John Lefler (Dashboard Confessional), the band began performing in southern California and outlying cities in the southwestern U.S. A slot at The Artwallah Festival and bookings at renowned Hotel Café Hollywood, highlighted the following year of touring and shows.
2007 took The Throws back into the studio where they began work on a full length record. But rather than approaching the process in the usual way???with demos, rehearsals, and then recording??? Rao simply sent rough recordings to friends, inviting them to add their own flavor. Meanwhile, The Throw's music was being featured on various U.S. television shows including "One Tree Hill", "What About Brian", and "All My Children".
The Throws' latest single "Invitation" has been widely released to internet radio as well as online distributors. Response has been positive, and the band is currently rehearsing for a tour to coincide with the release of the record. Stay tuned for more from The Throws.
