    About
Still Waters is a band that was originally formed in 1998. Back then they were called Out of Place – the name was a reflection of the members who felt they were socially awkward and would generally keep to themselves as a group.                                                                                                                           These college kids wanted to make music similar to the kind they’d grown up listening to and also tried to incorporate the newer sounds of contemporary rock, pop and even grunge that were in vogue back then. After tasting a bit of success in the college gig circuit, they decided to take a crack at the Indian music industry cutting an initial demo of 4 songs that they would float around all the record labels. After several months of trying, the band decided to part ways with everyone pursuing either steady jobs or higher education and in some cases both.                                                                                                                           In the 10 years that have passed they’ve become “respectable” citizens employed in banks, media houses, software companies etc. The passion for the music hasn’t died. Despite everything the band is trying to record all the original material they’d done back in the day. However since a few of them live outside of India now, it happens only occasionally. It was during one of those extended visits that the band (now having re-named themselves as Still Waters) got into the studio and recorded some more of their original material. This is the music that has submitted to Tempostand. There are a few more originals which they are still looking to record when they find the time to get back together again in India.                                                                                                                           The Crew                                                                                                                           Peter – vocals                                                                                                                           Adil – guitar & vocals                                                                                                                           Zaheer – guitar & lyrics                                                                                                                           Hussein – bass                                                                                                                           Ovez - drums                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Some of their notable gigs                                                                                                                           Peace Together ’98 – Andheri Sports Complex (played to their biggest crowd of 4000+)                                                                                                                           Pepsi Campus Rock – National College (where they opened for Pentagram)                                                                                                                           Music Circle’s Rock Show – Fantasy Land                                                                                                                           Kaleidoscope ‘98 – Sophia College’s Annual festival                                                                                                                           Band special on SaReGaMa – Zee TV’s music talent hunt                                                                                                                           About the Music                                                                                                                           1st Demo – This was recorded in ’99 at Gogi’s studio situated in Wadala, Mumbai. The band’s first experience of being in a studio. The product was pretty raw and sounded amateurish in comparison to the second demo. The band didn’t care so much about the sound. For them it was just the biggest thrill being able to listen to what they’d played so often coming over the stereo speakers of the studio. Gogi and Anit helped out on the sound engineering. Siddharth (guitar parts, solos) & Gopal (drums) were instrumental (no pun intended) in helping as well. FYI Sid and Gopal played together in an outfit called Vedic Chant. Sid also featured in a band called Spirit of Bhangra and is today working as a music composer in Bollywood having produced music for films such as Dil Dosti Etc, Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama and Bhram.                                                                                                                           The ZAPH Project (E.P) – This was recorded in Randolph Correa’s bedroom studio sometime in ’02. Randolph is known primarily for being the lead guitar player for one of India’s longtime (and hugely popular) rock outfits – Pentagram. Besides being a part of Pentagram, he is also one of the foremost funk-electronica musicians in the country and is developing a reputation internationally. The distinctive electronica flavor that he is known for can clearly be sampled on the band’s solo English track called Someday. Again Siddharth provided a lot of support musically along with Randolph who mixed and engineered the entire demo.
