    About
Pune has definitely seen a growing music culture with more & more youngsters getting involved and making it their tool for expression. With various venues across the city and competitions like Campus Rock Idols & shows like Live Storms providing our young rockers a platform, music has definitely got a whole lot of attention. One such band was formed when five musicians all coming from different backgrounds and cultures met together to realize their dreams.                                                                                                                           PROSODY, a band consisting of Abhay on guitars, Sumit on bass, Andy on vocals, Kirti on leads and his brother, Angad on drums, has been making waves in the Pune circuit for quiet sometime. It all started when five of them met in college and started exploring on what they were capable of. Dedicated to always giving a quality output, the band believes in letting out their thoughts bluntly and makes it come out as the voice of the people. Rhythm guitarist Abhay says, "Since all of us have more or less different musical backgrounds and influences, it makes us easier to venture into different styles and sounds giving us an infinite number of opportunities to explore & discover. This makes our music difficult to fit in a genre which is the best part."                                                                                                                           Abhay's influences have been Nirvana, Pearl Jam, R.E.M, Megadeth and our very own Kishore Kumar & R.D Burman. Kirti and Angad being brothers have always had each other's support when it comes to music and have spent their childhood listening to bands like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath, Beatles and many more.                                                                                                                           The Band recently participated in Campus Rock Idols in Pune and were the West Zone first runner-ups in this national competition. They also won the hindi band competition called 'Mantra' at IIT Pawai's annual cultural fest-Mood Indigo 2008 where Prosody's hindi vocalist Carriappa Prasaad took charge of the stage. The band keeps performing in Pune at some regular venues constantly trying to take their energy, restlessness and fun to the next level. Ask Sumit about his influences and he says, "My major influences have been RATM, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and also a lot of native Nepali folk and fusion.                                                                                                                           When it comes to playing live, the centre stage is taken by Andy with his energy and power-packed vocals layered with Abhay's growling guitars, Sumit's grooving bass, Angad's beat science and Kirti's shrilling leads.                                                                                                                           Right now, what the band is focusing on, is their studio recordings. The band has already recorded four songs with songs like Ceasefire & Confusion leaving the head bangers wanting for more! All and all, with the kind of commitment Prosody has put into making music, they definitely have a long way to go.
