LBG LITTLE BABOOSHKA’S GRIND: THE ORIGINAL BAD CHILDREN Band Line-up Arjun - Bass Avnith - Guitars Maynard - Drums Praveen - Vocals Aum - Guitars LBG have been around for about 6 years and is one of the pioneers of performing original music in Chennai. LBG released its second offering 'Bad Children' this November 18th with a special launch performance at Distil, Taj Connemara. The 11 song full length album (short listed from over 25 songs) is a culmination of over 2 years of song writing, dedication and hard work. The Album was recorded over a 3 month period with the band taking time to reflect over the material and making the appropriate adjustments to bring their vision of a quintessential Indian rock album to reality. The band believes, as it did when it released its first album in 2004 titled " This Animal is called the Wallet, that the songs reflect a certain state of mind as well aspirations, fears and hopes for the future. Tempered with a fair amount aggression and well rounded instrumentation, the album sees its members pushing the envelope in terms of what is normally considered "an Indian rock album". It has also shot a video for "Basics of Life" that premiered at Distil. "Bad Children" is a personification of the rebellious tone of the compilation and the band's journey & adventure on the 'road less traveled' ABOUT LBG What is 'Babooskha'? A Babooshka (Matryoshka) is a Russian nesting doll. A set of Matryoshka dolls consists of a wooden figure which can be pulled apart to reveal another figure of the same sort inside. It has in turn another figure inside, and so on. The number of nested figures is usually six or more.... Lots of high energy tunes complimented by an equally high energy performance. No talk of Satan, or death and destruction, we have enough of that in this world. This is music that has its own character matched by our in-your-face attitude of not perpetuating the lie that original music won’t get you anywhere. Not playing covers- How we view it and how we can overcome this? LBG understands that this has kept them away from bigger shows and bigger things, "but how long are we going to play other people's songs to prove that we are worthy? Who is the better band - Grateful Dead or Dream Theatre? Whose to judge?" says Arjun " It just depends on the music you like and since there are not that many recognized “eclectic” rock platforms in the country the journey is that much harder, but the rock audience are becoming more and more open and that gives us the passion to rock on!!" - says Aum BAND INITIATIVES: LBG believe that most bands out here in India really need to promote themselves as there aren’t any music record labels supporting rock bands like in the West. It’s the Bands’ initiative & passion that makes things happen and keeps things going by trying new approaches with sheer enthusiasm. LBG are a serious band and hope to make it internationally one day. ‘BASICS OF LIFE ‘ MUSIC VIDEO For the release of their second album, They mustered up enough money to produce their first Video ‘Basics of Life’ to promote the album in a revolutionary way. With a 90% complete edit in place, the band plans on taking the video to an online video platform and complete post productions as per international standards as well as get substantial Air time & support from the Music Channels.
