Born in the suburbs of the city of Mumbai, Aftertaste was conceived by a desire for musical expression and energy release. The members of Aftertaste have developed being influenced by myriad artists, even then the rapport shared between them is very apparent when they get down to creating high voltage ‘alternative-funk’ oriented music. This palpable connection was further substantiated when Atin Dasgupta referred to the band as ‘one that could exhilarate any rock show in the country’.
At this point in time, Aftertaste is doing its utmost to infuse a lot of imagination and novelty to its overall sound. The preceding factor being the composition of many original pieces of music based upon which the band plans on recording an album in next to no time.
The current line up of Aftertaste consists of Michael (ex-KSM and ex-ACO) on guitars, Levin (Ex - Medusa) on drums,Ruell on bass and Keegan on vocals. Aftertaste breathed it’s first in Arun,the earlier drummer's garage. The band has since then undergone a metamorphosis of sorts with the unfortunate departure of the earlier vocalist named Allister(ex-ACO),which paved way for the inclusion of Keegan to complete the vocal parts.The band has been active for nearly a year and a half but the existing members have grouped themselves for barely five months now. Aftertaste went through a purple patch after Allister(previous vocalist) renounced his designation that left the band with a mammoth hole to fill(pun intended).But the addition of the new vocalist saw the band garner all of its latent passion, and the mandatory motivation required to make good music and seemed to have found its feet again. All of the hard work was manifested in the fact that Aftertaste played quite a few shows in its comeback period and “tasted” a copious amount of success owing to the fact that they won four of the five competitions that they participated in. The competitions being Powerchords 05 (SIES Sion), Grunge 05 (SIES Nerul), Confluence 06 ( VES Chembur), Crosswindz (IT BHU-Varanasi) and dare I forget to mention,were also runners-up at Unchained (RAIT-Mumbai) earlier.
